Made in heart-achingly small quantities, this Merlot is sourced from a small vineyard in Coombsville, farmed by the guys at Les Lunes, which is fast becoming one the state's premier sources for the grape. You may not think about Merlot when it comes to natural wine, but this is a tremendous introduction that should tell you otherwise!
Each year we eagerly await our small allocation of natural wines from Jason Charles and his Berkeley-based winery, Vinca Minor. Jason works with organically farmed vineyards throughout Northern California. The winery's motto, "Soil, grape and sun" speaks to Jason's journey through the wine industry that includes an initial harvest internship in Sonoma leading to a formative stop in Bordeaux before returning home. His wines are also incredibly reflective of Jason's experience as a photographer, combining an artist's eye and touch with a farming first ethos to craft wines of purity and complexity.
