Simple Cedar Plank Salmon Recipe & Wine Pairings

Add Some Smoke To Your Salmon With This Foolproof Recipe

Simple Cedar Plank Salmon Recipe

Start the week off right with this healthy and delicious salmon recipe. Grilling on cedar planks adds an intense, smoky flavor that takes this dish to the next level. The best part, you can do this on a gas or charcoal grill and it's really easy to execute perfectly every time. Here's what you'll need:

Ingredients

Directions

Soak cedar plank in water for 1-2 hours and marinate fresh salmon filets in Soy Vay's Veri Veri Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce for 1-2 hours as well. Fire up your gas or charcoal grill to 375 degrees and place cedar plank on the grill. In the meantime, remove fresh salmon filets from marinade and season generously with Chef Paul's Magic Salmon Seasoning. Once you hear the cedar plank start crackling and popping (usually takes 10-15 minutes), flip the plank over and place salmon filets on plank. Close the grill lid and cook for 20-30 minutes depending on the how big the filets are. The internal temperature of the fish should be around 135 degrees. Transfer salmon to a platter for serving, squeeze lemon on top and you're ready to rock.

White Wine Pairing

Dirty & Rowdy Chenin Blanc: If you're in the mood for white wine, Dirty & Rowdy's Chenin Blanc is a great choice. This Chenin Blanc was made from organically grown grapes from California's Mendocino County AVA. This is a natural wine made with minimal intervention and no additions save for a tiny bit of SO2 at bottling. The resulting wine is a great expression of California Chenin Blanc. Rich and bold, with notes of stone fruit and persimmon that lead to intriguing mineral undertones of wet rocks, lanolin, and a bit of spice, this is an interesting, drinkable wine with bright acidity. The combination of these characteristics will stand up to the smoke from the cedar planks and cut through the fattiness of your fresh salmon filets. 540 cases produced.

Red Wine Pairing

Evening Land Pinot Noir: Go with this fresh and lively Pinot Noir from Evening Land if you're in the mood for red. This beautiful Pinot Noir is brimming with fresh and lively flavors of black cherry and raspberry with undertones of spice, bramble and forest floor. Pinot Noir is often a great complement to salmon dishes, but this is truly a perfect match. 92pts from Wine & Spirits, 91pts from Wine Spectator, 90pts from Wine Advocate. 2,078 cases produced.
