Winestyr Review

This Methode Champenois rosé, made up of about two-thirds Pinot Noir and one-third Chardonnay from Adelsheim's estate vineyards, was one of the most exciting wines I tasted in 2019. Aged for three years en tirage and disgorged last February, this wine shows the perfect balance of richness and freshness thanks to a ripe but not overly hot 2014 vintage.

What We Love

  • Methode Champenois
  • Three years en tirage
  • Extremely small production

Celebrate the most special of occasions with this wine...or just pair it with shellfish.

Experience

Adelsheim (pronounced Addels-Heim) was founded in 1971 by David and Ginny Adelsheim with one pursuit: to create world-class wines in the undiscovered wine region that would later become Chehalem Mountains AVA, a venerable subregion of Oregon's famous Willamette Valley. One of the original, most influential, and most important producers of the region, Adelsheim has a long track record of producing some of the finest Burgundian-style Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays produced domestically. We're very proud to add some of their most exclusive wines to our portfolio.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Need some specific recommendations? Chat us in the lower right box or send our lead curator an email at bob@winestyr.com.
