After hearing about Ric Forman's Chardonnay for years, I finally got the chance to try it at the Forman estate high above St. Helena and it didn't disappoint. Entirely sourced from Rutherford's Star Vineyard, Ric ferments the wine in barrel but blocks malolactic fermentation, creating the hallmark Chablis-esque style that he's now known for in Napa. Stock up on this perfect vintage, as I have, because we didn't get much.
In 1978, after searching several years for a vineyard site suitable for elegant but powerful, age-worthy Bordelaise grape varieties, Ric Forman found his home at the base of Howell Mountain. His wine journey started years before and included stops at several of the valley’s most historic estates. Still, his estate wines established his legacy all on their own thanks to nearly 40 years of consistent acclaim from the most respected wine critics in the world.
