Estate grown Viognier is always the lead in this blend but the winery was so blown away by the quality of its Roussanne, that it makes up a higher percentage than in 2017. Despite being made from two relatively fleshy grapes, this wine has impeccable balance and vibrancy. Just like the last vintage, this is an astounding value.
Gård is a true family operation in a state where industrial-sized wineries too often reign supreme. Josh and Lisa moved back to Royal City in 2001 where they teamed up with Josh’s father and uncle to create a farming-first operation of the highest order. In addition to beautiful examples of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Riesling, and Viognier (among so many others) the farming operations also span apple orchards, cherry orchards, and a variety of other crops, such as wheat, hay and dried beans.
