Estate grown Viognier is usually the lead in this blend but in 2019, Roussanne took center stage. Despite being made from two relatively fleshy grapes, this wine showcases balance and vibrancy without losing any of the juicy richness that the blend might suggest. Gård is a true family operation in a state where industrial-sized wineries too often reign supreme. Josh and Lisa moved back to Royal City in 2001 where they teamed up with Josh’s father and uncle to create a farming-first operation of the highest order. In addition to beautiful examples of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Riesling, and Viognier (among so many others) the farming operations also span apple orchards, cherry orchards, and a variety of other crops, such as wheat, hay and dried beans.
