Chris Pittenger uses Gamay in his High Country red blend and here, he lets this incredible grape stand on its own. The wine is fresh without lacking any concentration, really pushing the ripe red fruits Gamay can achieve when made well. Put a slight chill on the wine and serve it with appetizers.
Gros Ventre winemaker, Chris Pittenger, has the kind of pedigree that should attract any kind of wine enthusiast to try, and ultimately fall in love with, his wines. Heading the winemaking at classic projects like Skinner Vineyards and Limerick Lane helped establish Chris in his place as a bit of a “whisperer” to grapes like Zinfandel and vineyards near Skinner’s outpost in the Sierra Foothills. Of course, he’s also shown a tremendous touch with Pinot Noir, sourced from some of the most celebrated sites in Sonoma and Anderson Valley.
