This is a beautiful expression of California Chardonnay. Ripe new world fruit, but with the precision, balance, and complexity of world-class Chardonnay, this wine truly has it all. Lemon curd and tropical fruit lead the charge, but great structure, minerality, and a hint of fresh brioche add layers to this wine that solidify its position amongst the best expressions of California Chardonnay out there. This another very impressive wine from winemaker Anthony Yount who continues to garner serious critical acclaim with his Kinero Cellars project. 93pts from Vinous.
My passion for white wine, no doubt, stemmed from my father’s distaste for it. It’s not that I set out to make white wine out of spite, but rather, he inspired me. You see, he claimed to only like red wine, so it became my goal to find balanced and interesting whites that he would like. It didn’t take long as he slowly began to appreciate the depth and complexity that carefully sculpted whites can deliver. When I was presented with the opportunity to make my own wine, it was an easy decision to focus on making white wines. These wines are not only for those drinkers that enjoy the nuances of a handcrafted white wine, but also for those who pretend not to. - Anthony Yount
St. Louis native Anthony Yount, proprietor and winemaker at Kinero Cellars, got his start in winemaking by way of an internship during his undergraduate studies at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He became enamored with red and white Grenache and now serves as the winemaker for Denner Vineyards while also making small quantities of exceptional white wines under his own Kinero Cellars label. The wines are pure, fresh, and expressive and have earned him wide critical acclaim including landing on Jon Bonné's list of top 100 wines of the year. As our search for the absolute best and most interesting wines and wine producers continues, we feel very fortunate to have come across Kinero Cellars.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
