Winestyr Review

Sourced from acclaimed vineyards throughout the Napa Valley, the Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon spent 18 months in new French oak and is, in a word, brilliant. Dark berries, espresso, cedar, and a long finish framed by fine grained tannins define the palate. Blended with a touch of Merlot and Petit Verdot, we recommend decanting for at least an hour before enjoying. 97 pts Wine Enthusiast

The Blueprint Cabernet is an exquisite introduction to the brilliant winemaking tradition at Lail Vineyards.

Experience

Founded in 1995 by Robin Daniel Lail and her two daughters, Lail Vineyards is the culmination of more than 100 years in the Napa Valley wine business. Robin's great-granduncle founded Inglenook Vineyards in 1879 and her father, John Daniel Jr., carried Inglenook's legacy forward from Prohibition until the winery's sale in 1964. Needless to say, the history and pedigree of this winemaking family is undeniable! Philippe Melka heads winemaking at Lail today, with a resume featuring stops at Dominus, Chateau Haut-Brion, and Chateau Petrus. The estate comprises two hallmark vineyards, one on Howell Mountain and one in Yountville, but Lail's historic reputation opens the door to many of the Valley's top sites.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Need some specific recommendations? Chat us in the lower right box or send our lead curator an email at bob@winestyr.com.
