This Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot blend is absolutely bursting with fresh, pure, and delicious red and black fruit flavors. Sleeker, lighter-bodied, and lower in alcohol than most Cab/Merlot blends, this wine derives its complexity from a savory and herbaceous backbone with notes of dried herbs, cassis, and green bell pepper. This is one of the few examples we've found of natural Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot - and it is very successful indeed. This is a must try for any serious wine drinker.
We do very little in the cellar because we spend time in our vineyards. Proper pruning, precise suckering, well-timed treatments and thoughtful weed management lets us minimize the pesticide inputs in our vineyards. We do this to preserve the indigenous microbes on the grapes and in the soils, which leads to healthier and more complex wines that don’t need adjusting or stabilizing. Our goal year in and year out is to bring you a unique taste of the distinct times and places which we love and tend. The care that we bring through the entire winegrowing process shines through into the final product. Our wines are balanced in their youth, but the care we invest in the winegrowing will continue to reverberate in your cellar for years to come. - Shaunt Oungoulian & Diego Roig, Les Lunes Wine
Shaunt Oungoulian and Diego Roig, the guys behind Les Lunes Wine, lease their own vineyards, work their own vines, and built their own cellar with their bare hands. They're blazing their own trail like the pioneering winemakers of California with the ambitious goal of growing wines that pay respect to the great wines of California’s past. As one of a handful of domestic producers pushing the envelope of what is possible with natural wine, they are already well on their way to achieving their goals, and we're excited to add their wines to our portfolio.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Very acidic. Drank a few ounces and dumped the rest.
