I've got a long history with this wine, from pouring it by the glass at my Boulder restaurant to hand-selling hipsters in Brooklyn on the merits of California Chardonnay. There's a reason I was so excited to work with it, because the LIOCO ethos of vintage and site expression is clear, showcasing a mineral-driven, free of new oak Chardonnay that is just down right drinkable. The LIOCO 2018 Sonoma County Chardonnay is as reliable as everyday drinkers come.
From the beginning, LIOCO’s purpose was to explore California's more marginal, cool-climate growing sites, producing wines of elegance, restraint, and balance. Somehow, in the 15 years since, Matt Licklider has helped this project remain not just relevant, but at the forefront of California's New Wave. Matt and his wife, Sarah, have continued the pursuit together and produce wines from throughout Sonoma and Mendocino vineyards farmed sustainably and producing excellent fruit.
