Winestyr Review

This is a tiny production, single-vineyard wine made of 100% Mourvèdre from the esteemed Glenrose Vineyard in Paso Robles' Adelaida District AVA. Almost black in color, this wine is deep, dark, and rich with lush black fruit flavors, cocoa, cracked black pepper, leather, and spice. Somewhat surprisingly, this bold wine never hits any overripe flavors and that's a testament to the deft winemaking hand of Ryan Pease. This is a great wine to open with other wine enthusiasts as it represents some of the cutting edge winemaking going on in Southern California. 94pts and Editor's Choice from Wine Enthusiast.

What We Love

  • Lush and rich but not overripe
  • Critically acclaimed

This is a very interesting red made from 100% Mourvèdre from the Adelaida District AVA of Paso Robles.

Paix Sur Terre was created in 2010 by Ryan and Nicole Pease with the goal of producing a portfolio of mineral driven single vineyard Mourvedres along with small lots of Grenache, Syrah and Mediterranean style whites. Grapes are sourced from three stunning vineyards on the west side of Paso Robles; Glenrose, Alta Colina and Kiler Grove. The fruit is always picked keeping freshness in mind to express a balance of mouthwatering, savory, and mineral qualities.

Paix Sur Terre, French for "Peace on Earth," is the name Ryan and Nicole Pease chose for their winery which they started in 2010. They focus on balanced, mineral-driven wines made in small lots with fruit from some of California's best vineyards. They've developed quite a penchant for making some of the best Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah, and mediterranean-style whites coming out of California today and have garnered some serious critical acclaim for their efforts.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
