Winestyr Review

Just when you think that Mourvèdre can only be overly tannic and brooding, you try a wine like this that has dynamic lift to the aromatics. Densely packed floral notes perfume from the glass and give way to a perfectly ripe, rounded palate of plum and raspberry. The finish is more herbal with peppery tannins and a smooth finish.

What We Love

  • Hollyhock Vineyard
  • Excellent sub-AVA of Paso Robles

Certainly not just a burger wine but we're just sayin'...

Experience

Paix Sur Terre, French for "Peace on Earth," is the name Ryan and Nicole Pease chose for their winery which they started in 2010. They focus on balanced, mineral-driven wines made in small lots with fruit from some of California's best vineyards. They've developed quite a penchant for making some of the best Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah, and mediterranean-style whites coming out of California today and have garnered some serious critical acclaim for their efforts.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Need some specific recommendations? Chat us in the lower right box or send our lead curator an email at bob@winestyr.com.
