This single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc was made with organic grapes exclusively from the Venturi vineyard in Mendocino County which was planted in 1948. The very slightly cloudy nature of this wine hints at the natural winemaking practices used in its creation and the structure and flavor is on point. Pure and focused with lip-smacking acidity and a fleshiness usually reserved for bolder whites, this is a very impressive Sauvignon Blanc. No frills, no gimicks, just a complex, focused, unadulterated, single vineyard white wine from Mendocino County. 394 cases produced.
Diego and Shaunt have one of the most unique winery setups in the country, if not the world. Tucked into the hills above Orinda, which is just a few minutes outside of Oakland, this duo crafts their flagship natural wines in the raised basement of Shaunt’s family home. That’s right, they lifted the house to make sure the cellar (er...basement) had room for their barrel stacks. It’s a true bootstrap operation but one that has yielded incredible wines beloved by natural wine enthusiasts.
