If you're in the market for high toned, mouth watering Chardonnay aged in neutral oak and made without overt winemaking intervention, then you've come to the right place. We were blown away by this wine's persistence on the palate, carrying all of those classic stone fruit, citrus, and mineral notes that cool climate Chardonnay can deliver. 92pts from Wine Enthusiast.
As if it was fate all along, I somehow kept bumping into the wines over and over again over the course of my career. Mikey launched Scar of the Sea on the idea that Santa Maria Valley, situated between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, offered an extraordinarily diverse and unique terroir. When the brand was introduced in the early 2010s, California was at the height of its reinvention and its wines came to define the kind of balance and expressiveness we now expect from the region's Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah. In February of 2020, Giugni assumed control over the entirety of the winery's production and the future looks as promising as ever.
